Speed matters

The importance of speed has been noted in the past.¹²³

Here's more places where I find speed matters a lot:

• Writing down ideas (thought to memory)
• Executing plans (plan to action; idea to reality)
• Experimentation (action creates knowledge)

These examples also highlight how tools can help us move faster. Some of these tools provide mise en place, providing a perfect location to record our thoughts.

  • OpenAI acquiring the Multi team was one of their best investments. The ChatGPT desktop app is not only quickly accessible, but the app itself is fast (contrast this to Anthropic's Claude desktop app). The desktop app eliminates virtually all barriers to asking questions via ChatGPT.

  • A user-friendly, "GUI" database where any kind of structured data (people, organizations, books) can be stored as a personal database.

Speed antipatterns:
